Thanal sits on a working coffee estate at Tholpetty, on the northern edge of the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary. The plantation is the setting and the point — old shade trees, coffee under them, and a verandah positioned so that you watch the valley fill with mist in the late afternoon.
The villa has four bedrooms, each with a queen bed and its own bathroom, and sleeps ten comfortably. There is a full kitchen, but most guests take the home-cooked Kerala meals the caretaker can arrange — it is the better decision, and it is the reason people write about this place afterwards.
The sanctuary gate at Tholpetty is minutes from the estate, and we will arrange the early-morning jeep safari for you. Thirunelli Temple is nearby in the Brahmagiri hills. The rest of Wayanad — Edakkal, Chembra, the waterfalls — is an hour or two south.
Bookings here are direct — send an inquiry and we will respond personally. The villa is also listed on Airbnb if you prefer that workflow.

Wayanad: The Coffee Hills
Wayanad sits high in the Western Ghats where Kerala meets Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. It is coffee and cardamom country — plantations under old shade trees, the mist coming down by late afternoon, elephants genuinely crossing the road. The Tholpetty range of the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary is on its northern edge; Sultan Bathery is the district’s market town to the south. Our two properties sit at either end, and between them cover most of what people come here for.
