About the area
Wayanad sits high in the Western Ghats where Kerala meets Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. It is coffee and cardamom country — plantations under old shade trees, the mist coming down by late afternoon, elephants genuinely crossing the road. The Tholpetty range of the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary is on its northern edge; Sultan Bathery is the district’s market town to the south. Our two properties sit at either end, and between them cover most of what people come here for.

Edakkal Caves
Neolithic petroglyphs cut into a rock cleft above Sultan Bathery — a steep, worthwhile climb.
Chembra Peak
The district high point, with a heart-shaped lake partway up. Permit required at the base.
Banasura Sagar Dam
The largest earthen dam in India, with island-dotted reservoir views.
Soochipara Falls
A three-tiered waterfall in dense forest — swimming at the base when the flow allows.
Thirunelli Temple
An ancient temple in the Brahmagiri hills, near Tholpetty.
Coffee estate walks
The plantations themselves — walk the rows at first light while the mist is still in the trees.
